Woody: Tar Heel TV Twinbill

Nov. 20, 2003

This is the one weekend this fall during which football and men's basketball overlap. Early Saturday afternoon the football Tar Heels play their regular season finale in Kenan Stadium against Duke, and that evening in the Smith Center the basketball Tar Heels officially begin their first season under Roy Williams against Old Dominion. Each head coach will also have a TV show for Carolina fans to enjoy.

Here's the Saturday schedule on Fox Sports South...

9:00 A.M. - INSIDE CAROLINA FOOTBALL W/JOHN BUNTING

5:30 P.M. - INSIDE CAROLINA BASKETBALL W/ROY WILLIAMS

On Sunday each head coach will have a review show on WTVD/ABC 11 featuring game highlights, player interviews and special features.

Here's the Sunday schedule on WTVD/ABC 11...

11:30 A.M. - INSIDE CAROLINA BASKETBALL W/ROY WILLIAMS

12:00 Noon - INSIDE CAROLINA FOOTBALL w/JOHN BUNTING

Next weekend Roy Williams moves into the 9:00 A.M. slot each Saturday on Fox Sports South and the 12:00 Noon time period each Sunday on WTVD/ABC 11.

Defensive end Chase Page will be the player guest on Bunting's final show of the 2003 season, while point guard Raymond Felton--the pre-season ACC Player of the Year--be featured on Williams' first show.

Looking ahead to his first season at Carolina, Williams feels good about his players. "With each and every day they're learning more about me and my entire staff. With each and every day they're trusting us a little bit more. They can say all they want, but until they've been with you at practice they don't really know. Yet I think it's developing with each practice. We gave them Wednesday off, but we'll spend Thursday and Friday getting ready for Old Dominion."

Meanwhile, Bunting hopes to extend Carolina's domination of Duke and wrap up the season at 3-and-9. "This game will be no different for me. I've got a very strong will. I've got a very strong resolve about this team and this football program, and I'm not going to change a lot of things I do. I love Carolina, I love football and I love competition. I'm going to demand mental toughness and discipline, and I want our desire, at all times, to be the best. So I'm preparing this team hard and pushing this team hard in ts preparation for Duke."

Hopefully, it'll be a Saturday twinbill for Carolina fans to enjoy.
