Four Tar Heels Earn All-ACC Honors
Dec. 2, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four North Carolina volleyball players were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams on Tuesday as announced by the ACC office. Seniors Lauren Prussing and Brianna Eskola became the first Tar Heels since 2005 to earn first-team honors, while juniors Heather Brooks and Ingrid Hanson-Tuntland each were tabbed to the second team. The All-ACC teams are voted on by the 12 league coaches. The Tar Heels, co-champions of the ACC, led all schools with four selections on the two nine-person teams. The All-ACC honor is the second of Eskola's career who earned second-team honors following the 2006 campaign. The senior of duo of Eskola and Prussing become the first Tar Heels since 2005 ACC Player of the Year, Dani Nyenhuis, to be tabbed as first team performers. It also marks the first time since 2002 that a pair of Tar Heels earned first-team honors as the pair of Laura Greene and Eve Rackham accomplished the feat.
Carolina placed a pair of athletes on the second team as well with Heather Brooks and Ingrid Hanson-Tuntland picking up the honors. The four plaudits mark the first time since 1999 that four Tar Heels made the two nine member teams.
