CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina volleyball team, the Atlantic Coast Conference co-champions, will travel to Washington, D.C. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6, for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Championships, the NCAA announced Sunday night. The Tar Heels will take on host American on Friday as they make their 11th appearance in the NCAA tournament. North Carolina (21-10) will take on the host American (24-8) in Bender Arena on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., while No. 11 Oregon (23-8) takes on Delaware (19-15) in the opening match at 5 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. to decide who advances to the regional semifinals in Austin, Texas. The Tar Heels are 7-0 all-time against the Eagles, including a 3-2 win in the 2007 Carolina Classic, but have not met in 2008. The last appearance in the NCAA Tournament the Tar Heels fell in four against College of Charleston in 2005.
