Carolina Volleyball Heads To Florida For First Round NCAA Action
NCAA Tournament Bracket in PDF Nov. 26, 2000 Chapel Hill-- The 2000 ACC Champion Carolina volleyball team will head to Gainesville, Florida to face SE Missouri State in the first round of the NCAA Championships. Southeast was 22-8 in the Ohio Valley Conference and received an automatic bid. Carolina 26-7 for the season, also received an automatic bid and makes its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships led by head coach Joe Sagula. The Division I Women's Volleyball Committee announced today (Nov. 26) the 64-team field for the 2000 Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. Thirty-one conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 33 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket. Nebraska leads the field with a 28-0 record. In both trips to the NCAA Championships, Carolina has made it to the second round tournament defeating Oral Roberts (3-2) in 1998 and Northern Arizona (3-0) in 1999. Carolina will meet the Otahkians for the first time in the school's history. Southeast, 16-0 in their conference, won their fifth straight Ohio Valley Conference title. This is also the third year Southeast will travel to the tournament and have advanced to the second round in 1998 and 1999.
Other ACC schools in the Championships, Duke heads to Minneapolis, Minnesota to face Arizona State and Georgia Tech travels to Denver, Colorado to meet Colorado.
