Carolina Visits Florida State For ACC Tilt

The North Carolina volleyball team travels to Tallahassee, Fla. today to take on the Florida State Seminoles at 7 p.m.. The Tar Heels are coming off a 3-1 win over N.C. State. UNC is 17-8 this season and 8-3 in conference play, while the Seminoles are 12-12 and 2-8 in the ACC.

On Oct. 29, Florida State defeated South Florida, 3-0. The Seminoles took Carolina to five games in their matchup earlier this season, but the Tar Heels prevailed 30-14, 28-30, 27-30, 30-22, 15-9 in Carmichael Auditorium.

North Carolina continues to be led by junior outside hitter Molly Pyles. Pyles sat out the N.C. State game while resting a nagging injury, but she will return to play for the Florida State game. Pyles averages 3.67 kills per game, 2.94 digs per game and leads the team with 27 service aces on the season. Sophomore outside hitter Dani Nyenhuis is averaging 3.29 kills per game and 2.54 digs per game as she has stepped up her level of play in recent games.

The Seminoles are led Cassie McLaughlin, as she leads the team with a 2.97 kills per game average, and has a 2.22 digs per game average. Other key contributors for Florida State are Aisha Carr, Cerina Pele and Nikki Anthony. Carr is averaging 2.69 kills per game, Pele leads the team in digs average with 3.09 per game and Anthony has a 2.49 kills per game average.
