Carolina Volleyball Heads To Florida To Face The Seminoles
Sept. 28, 2000 CHAPEL HILL - Following the success of Tuesday (Sept. 26) night's game, the University of North Carolina volleyball team heads to Tallahassee, Florida to ACC rival Florida State Sunday(Oct. 1) at 1 p.m. The Tar Heels are 13-2 and 3-0 in the ACC. UNC leads the ACC in team digs (17.35) and assists (14.98) and freshman Nicole Reis received ACC Rookie of the Week honors. Reis leads the Heels averaging 4.00 kills per game. Laura Greene and Casey Simpson each average 3.55. Greene is also second in digs followed by Liz Feldman who averages 3.22 digs per game. Defensively, Carolina will look to Holly Strauss and Krista Buchholz averaging 1.19 and 1.07 blocks respectively.
The Seminoles are 11-5 and 0-2 in the ACC. Their most recent loss was to Florida on Tuesday (Sept. 26) night 3-1. In ACC action, FSU fell to Virginia 3-1 and Maryland 3-1. Florida State is led by Alexandra Sevillano averaging 3.84 kills per game. Jennifer Anderson leads in assists with 13.15 per game. FSU also leads the ACC in hitting percentage at .281. Florida State leads their all-time series with the Tar Heels 21-8. In 1999, Carolina swept FSU at both meetings and looks to capitalize on last year's success
Carolina will head back to Florida on Wednesday, October 4, to face 12th ranked Florida before heading to Maryland and Virginia on October 6 and 7 for more ACC action.
