Tar Heels Arrive Safely In Budapest
May 15, 2009 BUDAPEST, Hungary - The North Carolina volleyball team landed safely in Budapest, Hungary Friday afternoon in the first leg of their European Exhibition. The Tar Heels took in gorgeous downtown Budapest before dining on a riverboat on the Danube River. The Tar Heels will have their first practice Saturday morning before more sightseeing in Budapest. The Tar Heels left the Raleigh/Durham Airport Thursday afternoon and arrived in London Friday morning before jumping on another flight and landing in Budapest a little past 3 p.m. local time. A quick break at the hotel preceded the picturesque dinner on the famous Danube River. Following dinner the group embarked on a boat tour down the Danube past the Parliament building, the Hungary Statue of Liberty and several bridges dating back to the early 1900s. With the six-hour time change the team turned in early in preparation for the first practice of the trip.
