Tar Heels Sign De Bruycker To NLI

Dec. 9, 2008

CHAPEL HILL --- Zoe De Bruycker of Saratoga, Calif., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at North Carolina, Tar Heel head coach Brian Kalbas announced Tuesday.

De Bruycker ranks among the top 25 high school seniors in the United States and is considered a blue chip prospect by TennisRecruiting.net. Rated as high as No. 2 in the country in the girls-16 rankings in 2007, De Bruycker has scored 24 wins over blue chip and five-star players in the last year. She advanced to the semifinals of the Eddie Herr tournament and the Easter Bowl in 2007. De Bruycker has had national success in doubles play as well, winning the Orange Bowl tournament in 2007 and advancing to the final of the National Clay Court Championships in 2006.

"Zoe is an outstanding student-athlete that we are very exited to bring to Chapel Hill," Kalbas said. "She is incredibly gifted both in the classroom and on the court and we expect her to be a great addition to our program."
