Tar Heel Women's Tennis Duo Named To All-America Team

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of North Carolina women's tennis program earned a pair of All-America accolades in doubles Friday as juniors Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long were named to the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America Team. In final year rankings, the duo finished the season ranked No. 6 nationally in doubles.

As a team, the Tar Heels finished the season ranked No. 10. Three singles players earned end of the season national rankings. Long was ranked 38th, Caitlin Collins was ranked 88th and Anundsen was No. 96.

Three principals in the UNC women's tennis program won awards from the ITA. Head coach Brian Kalbas was named the ITA Wilson Southeast Region Coach of the Year and Tari Ann Toro was named the ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Junior Jenna Long was honored as the ITA Southeast Region Player To Watch.
