Senior Tar Heels Advance In NCAA Singles Tournament
May 23, 2005 ATHENS, Ga. - Adding to their list of accomplishments as their senior campaigns come to a close, North Carolina women's tennis players Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis both advanced to the second round of the 2005 NCAA singles tournament after first-round wins on Monday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Cline and Mojzis will continue singles play on Tuesday, May 24. The fifth-ranked doubles tandem will also begin play in the doubles tournament on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. as they take on Mississippi's Chloe Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis. Mojzis, ranked 41st in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, moved on to the second-round with a 6-7(6), 6-0 win after Stanford's Amber Liu retired. Liu, the seventh seed, was last year's NCAA singles champion. Playing next to Mojzis on the Henry Field courts, Cline, ranked 24th, defeated Pepperdine's Bianca Dulgheru 6-2, 7-5. 2005 NCAA Singles Tournament Results
