Tar Heels Earn Three All-ACC Selection Honors
April 20, 2005 GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Wednesday the All-Conference honorees for the 2005 women's tennis season, and three Tar Heels were named to the team. Kendall Cline, Jenna Long and Aniela Mojzis all received the honor for Carolina. North Carolina, along with Clemson, Georgia Tech and Miami each placed a league-high three student-athletes on this year's team. Wake Forest placed two on the team, while Duke, Florida State, Maryland and Virginia Tech rounded out the All-Conference team with one selection apiece. The honor is the third in a row for Cline, a senior from Dallas, Texas. Currently ranked No. 25 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, the senior has posted a 34-7 record on the season. She is 7-2 in the ACC and 19-6 in dual-match play. She is also ranked seventh in the nation in doubles with Mojzis. The tandem is 7-3 in the ACC and 28-7 on the season. Mojzis, a senior from Cape Town, South Africa, has been named to the All-ACC team all four years of her collegiate career. Ranked No. 34 in the ITA poll, Mojzis has garnered a 26-13 overall record, playing mostly at No. 1. She is 6-4 in the ACC and 16-10 in dual-match play. Long, a sophomore from Fremont, Calif., earned her first All-ACC selection honor after posting one of the team's best season records. Long is 8-2 in the ACC, 22-5 in dual-match play and 34-7 overall. During the season, Long was ranked at No. 82 and No. 88 in the ITA singles polls. With fellow sophomore Sara Anundsen, Long is 8-2 in the ACC and 31-7 overall. The tandem is currently No. 34 in the ITA rankings. The Tar Heels will begin play in the ACC Tournament on Friday, Apr. 22 at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, NC. UNC is the fourth seed in the tournament and will take on fifth-seed Maryland at noon.
