WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-The University of North Carolina women's tennis team continued its strong play in the ITA Southeast Regional Qualifying Championships Saturday, with three singles players advancing to round of 16. Sophomores Marlene Mejia and Kate Pinchbeck and freshman Julie Rotondi all will play on Sunday morning. "Our singles play today was excellent," UNC coach Roland Thornqvist said. "Kate, who upset a seeded player to advance, is playing the best tennis of her life."

In doubles play, all three UNC teams lost in the quarterfinals, but not before putting in impressive performances. "I've been very pleased with the weekend," Thornqvist said. "We're competing well."
