Second Round Of Carolina Classic Sees Eight Tar Heels Advance.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four Tar Heels will advance to play in the third round of the Carolina Classic on Saturday.

In the second round of play today of women's tennis, freshman Marlene Mejia of UNC defeated Cascaritla of Richmond (6-0, 6-2) and will advance to play Nedelkova of Virginia Commonwealth Saturday.

Other wins for the Tar Heels include Caroline Hill defeating a top seed Van Rossuum in three sets, and advancing to play Bielik of Wake Forest. Also senior Jeni Burnette as well as Courtney Zalinski both will advanced to play tomorrow.

Two out of three Carolina doubles will advance. Doubles team of Hill/Burnette defeated Virginia Commonwealth 8-4. They will go on to play Zacharova/Sokolenko of VCU. Also team of Mejia/Zaganczyk defeated Richmond 8-3 and will advance to play Harvard in the third round.

Also advancing for other schools are Nagushband, Jareth and Bejin/Magyera for Harvard, Zachorova, Onorisova, Nedelkova and Ondrisova/Nedelkovo of VCU, Coulter and Sullivan/Coulter of William & Mary, Bagnato of Richmond, Verban, Bergman, Milton and Bielik/Verban of WFU.
