Anundsen And Long Roll Into National Semifinals

May 26, 2007

ATHENS, Ga. --- North Carolina seniors Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Tournament for the second straight season with a resounding 6-2, 6-0 victory over Notre Dame's Catrina and Christian Thompson Saturday at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Anundsen and Long, the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament, will face TCU's Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska Sunday for a spot in the national title match.

The Tar Heel duo, the most successful doubles tandem in school history, is now a sparkling 22-3 in dual match play in 2007. Anundsen and Long faced No. 4-seeded Cetnik and Sydorska earlier this season at the ITA National Indoor tournament, with the Carolina twosome scoring an 8-4 victory. The TCU pair defeated Pepperdine's Bianca Dulgheru and Sylvia Kosakowski, 6-3, 7-5 Saturday.
