Clemson Ends Tar Heels' Seven Match Win Streak

CLEMSON, S.C. - The 13th-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team was handed its first loss in nearly a month Saturday afternoon as the 14th-ranked Clemson Tigers captured a 5-2 victory. UNC moves to 19-7, 7-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels play their final regular season match Sunday at Georgia Tech at 11 a.m. Clemson clinched the doubles point after winning at No. 1 and 3. The Tigers' 53-ranked tandem of Julie Coin and Alix Lacelarie defeated 6th-ranked Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis 8-5. for only their seventh loss of the season. The senior pair is 6-3 in ACC play. At No. 2, 24th-ranked Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long were the only Carolina team to win in doubles. They defeated Daniela Alvarez and Maria Brito 8-5 to move to 31-6 on the season and 8-0 in the ACC. In singles, Anundsen and Long were also victorious, giving UNC both of its points on the day. At No. 3, Long defeated Lacelarie 6-4, 6-3 to improve to 34-6. With her three-set comeback win over Brito, Anundsen moves to 24-9. She has won her last seven matches and is 8-0 in ACC play. #14 Clemson 5, #13 North Carolina 2
