TEMPE, Ariz. - The Tar Heels got their first taste of sun and heat Monday in defeating Marquette's Golden Eagles 7-0 in their first outdoor match of the season. Carolina played Marquette in Tempe as a warm-up for Wednesday's match against ninth-ranked Arizona State.

"We have a tough match ahead of us on Wednesday," said Head Coach Jen Callen. "The players adjusted well to the sun and heat. I'm glad we were able to play a match outdoors before facing Arizona State."
