No. 13 UNC Sweeps No. 74 Boston College

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 13 North Carolina improved to 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with its second straight impressive victory, a 7-0 win over No. 74 Boston College Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels dropped just one set on the day after sweeping the doubles point. UNC (9-4) took control early with three decisive doubles victories. Junior Sophie Grabinski and sophomore Sanaz Marand, the No. 6 duo in the nation, topped Lauren Cash and Dasha Cherkasov, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Junior Austin Smith teamed with sophomore Katrina Tsang at No. 2 for an 8-3 win over Katharine Attwell and Alina Sullivan. Senior Alexandra Jurewitz and junior Laura Reichert rounded out the sweep with an 8-4 win over Lana Krasnopolsky and Gia Nafarrete at No. 3. The Tar Heels continued to dominate in singles action, as the hosts dealt Boston College (7-3, 0-2 ACC) six losses. Reichert was first off in impressive fashion, as she defeated Attwell, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. Grabinksi made it 3-0 at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sullivan. No. 26 Tsang clinched the dual match victory with a 6-2, 7-5, over Cherkasov at No. 1. Fanjoy, Smith and Marand completed the shutout with wins at Nos. 6, 3 and 1 positions, respectively. Next up for the Tar Heels is a Spring Break trip to Puerto Rico. UNC will face East Carolina on March 12, Princeton on March 15 and Illinois on March 16. DOUBLES SINGLES
