CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina freshman sensation Marlene Mejia moved to the singles final at the ACC Indoor Women’s Tennis Championship after her semifinal win Sunday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

To reach the final Mejia defeated Wake Forest’s Anne Marie Milton by a score of 6-3, 6-2. She will face the tournament’s No. 1 seed, Adria Engel of Wake Forest, for the title Monday. Engel beat Duke’s Erica Biro (6-0, 6-4) to advance. Following first-round byes, Mejia and Engel each won four matches to advance to the final.

Joining Mejia in Monday’s action will be Tar Heel senior Jessica Zaganczyk, who reached the consolation final by virtue of two victories Sunday. Her opponent is Wake Forest’s Janet Bergman, the No. 2 seed.

In Monday’s doubles final, Wake Forest’s Engel and Bea Bielik, the sixth-seed, face Laurence Javet and Anna Savitskaya of Clemson, seeded second.

Carolina’s tandem of Mejia and junior Erin Niebling fell to Javet and Savitskaya 8-5 in the doubles quarterfinals.
