Junior pitcher Crystal Cox was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for April 18-24, the league announced Wednesday. Cox was a perfect 4-0 for the week, and picked up all three wins in the weekend series at Maryland. Cox struck out 34 batters and allowed opponents to bat just .068 over 22.1 innings. She becomes the first Tar Heel to win the league award in 2005, and has won it three times in her career. Cox and the Tar Heels return to action Wednesday night in Raleigh, as they meet Triangle rival NC State for a doubleheader.
