Emily Price returns to coach at UNC after starring for the Tar Heels as a player. She previously spent a year working with the Western Carolina softball team as a graduate assistant, assisting with the infielders and hitting. A four-year letterwinner who played predominantly on the infield at shortstop, Price put up numbers that still litter the school record book. A career .320 hitter, she established the single-season school record for home runs with 16 in 2004, leading the Heels to a 43-20 overall mark and a sixth-seed in the NCAA Regionals. She led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in five offensive categories that year and was an All-ACC selection. As a freshman, she helped UNC claim the school's first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament title, earning All-tournament honors. Price also ranks in the school's top ten in a staggering 12 different career categories, including currently holding the record for the most games played. She graduated from North Carolina in 2004 with a degree in exercise and sport science. Following her graduation, Price was selected and signed to play in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League for the Akron Racers. |
