Averbuch Merits Soccer America Honor

OAKLAND, CALIF. - Freshman midfielder Yael Averbuch of the University of North Carolina women's soccer team was named Monday to the prestigious Soccer America First-Team All-Freshman team for the 2005 season.

Averbuch was one of 11 players nationally who made the Soccer America squad. Averbuch earned a starting role at UNC from the season opener on and finished the season with 15 points, scoring four goals and adding seven assists. Averbuch excelled on set pieces as a freshman taking direct kicks and corner kicks for the Tar Heels.
