Kluegel Third, Borgman Fifth In MAC Voting
Dec. 10, 2001 SAINT LOUIS, MO. - Senior midfielder Jena Kluegel finished third and senior defender Danielle Borgman fifth in the final voting for the 2001 Missouri Athletic Club Collegiate Players of the Year in voting by NCAA Division I soccer coaches. The award is the official Division I player of the year award of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The award was won by junior forward Christie Welsh of Penn State.
Welsh received 152 points in the voting while Florida senior forward Abby Wambach was second with 119 points. Kluegel finished third with 106 points and Santa Clara junior midfielder Aly Wagner was fourth with 103 points. Borgman finished fifth with 90 points.
