Dec. 2, 2004

GAINESVILLE, FLA. - Midfielder Lori Chalupny, forward Heather O'Reilly and midfielder Kacey White from the University of North Carolina were all tapped Thursday for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Regional First Team while defender Kendall Fletcher was named to the third team. The All-Regional selections were announced by committee chair Becky Burleigh of the University of Florida.

Chalupny (St. Louis, Mo.), O'Reilly (East Brunswick, N.J.) and White (Arlington, Texas) were all named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference last month. They all ranked among the leading scorers on the 2004 Tar Heel team which finished with a 20-1-2 record.

O'Reilly, a dynamic striker, led the Tar Heels in scoring with 37 points on a team-leading 13 goals and 11 assists. O'Reilly scored three game-winning goals for UNC. White was Carolina's third-leading scorer with 24 points on five goals and team-leading 14 assists. She had three game-winning and one game-tying goals. Chalupny finished the season with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Half of Chalupny's six goals were game-winners. Fletcher (Cary, N.C.) was named to the third team squad. She anchored a Tar Heel back line will allowed UNC opponents to score only 14 goals in 23 matches this season.

All four players return to the Tar Heels in 2005. Chalupny, White and Fletcher are juniors and O'Reilly is a sophomore.
