UNC Hosts Aggies Friday In NCAA Quaterfinals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 2002 NCAA Women's College Cup continues Friday as second-ranked North Carolina plays host to fourth-ranked Texas A&M in a quaterfinal game at 3 p.m. at Fetzer Field. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for students and $1 for children. Gets to Fetzer Field will open at 1:30 p.m.

The winner of the game Friday will advance to the semifinals of the 2002 NCAA Women's College Cup December 6 at Mike Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. The UNC/A&M winner will play the winner of a Saturday quarterfinal match between Michigan and fifth-ranked Santa Clara which is being played in Santa Clara, Calif. at 4 p.m.

Atlantic Coast Conference regular season and tournament champion North Carolina (20-1-4) has advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over Radford 6-1, Wake Forest 3-1 and Tennessee 3-1. Big 12 Conference regular season champion Texas A&M (20-4-1) has advanced with an 8-0 win over Northwestern State, a 2-1 triple overtime win over SMU and a 1-0 triple overtime victory over UCLA.

Other quarterfinal games Saturday have #8 Portland at #1 Stanford and Penn State at Connecticut.
