GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina will be seeded No. 1 and Florida State No. 2 when the 21st annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Championship gets under way this Wednesday (Nov. 5) at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

The top-seeded Tar Heels (16-1-2 overall, 9-0-1 ACC) will face eighth-seeded Miami (10-7-3, 3-5-2) at noon quarterrfinal action Wednesday. Fourth-seeded Boston College (12-4-2, 6-3-1) meets fifth-seeded Duke (12-4-3, 4-3-3) in the other upper bracket game at 2:30 p.m.

Florida State (14-2-2, 8-1-1) faces seventh-seeded Virginia Tech (10-7-2, 4-4-2) on Wednesday at 5 p.m., while third-seeded Virginia (12-4-2, 6-3-1) faces sixth-seeded Wake Forest (12-6, 5-5) at 7:30.

The North Carolina-Miami and Boston College-Duke winners will meet in Friday's 5p.m. semifinal match, while the Florida State-Virginia Tech winner faces the winner of the Virginia-Wake Forest match at 7:30 p.m..

Friday's semifinal matches are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The championship game will be played Sunday at 1 p.m.

Six ACC teams - North Carolina, Florida State, Virginia, Boston College, Duke and Wake Forest - have consistently been ranked among the top 25 of every national poll this season, and all eight teams participating in this year's field were among the top 43 of the latest RPI released by the NCAA.

North Carolina will enter the ACC Women's Championship as the three-time defending champion (18 titles overall) and as the ACC regular-season winner for the 19th time in 22 years.
