Rodenbough and Averbuch Named Academic All-District

Nov. 1, 2007

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Junior midfielder Yael Averbuch and junior goalkeeper Anna Rodebough were named Thursday to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team for the second successive year. Both players will now be eligible for election to the national team which will be announced later in November.

Rodenbough, a three-year co-starter in goal, was named last year to the national second team in the voting and Averbuch, the 2006 Soccer Buzz National Player of the Year, was named third-team a year ago. 2006 graduate, forward Heather O'Reilly, was tapped for the first team last year.

In 2005, Heather O'Reilly was a second-team choice nationally and forward Lindsay Tarpley was a third-team honoree.

In addition to Averbuch and Rodenbough, UNC sophomore defender Kristi Eveland was a second-team academic All-District selection this season, giving the Tar Heels three players on the first two teams.
