UNC Women's Lacrosse Hires Second Assistant Coach
Aug. 12, 1999 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina has hired Kathleen O'Shae as a restricted earnings assistant coach for the 2000 season, head coach Jenny Slingluff Levy announced Thursday. A Second-Team All-America in 1999 as a senior at Loyola College, O'Shae will work primarily with the Tar Heel defense while also assisting Slingluff Levy and assistant coach Lisa Dixon with all aspects of the Carolina program.
"I'm very excited to have Kathleen on board for the upcoming season," Slingluff Levy said Thursday. "Our team will have a lot of new faces this year, and Kathleen, Lisa and I are ready to make it the best team it can be. This should be a very exciting season."
O'Shae was a four-year letterwinner at Loyola from 1996-99, leading the Greyhounds to four NCAA Tournament appearances, two NCAA semifinal appearances and an appearance in the 1997 NCAA Tournament Final. The Greyhounds won two Colonial Athletic Association championships and compiled an overall record of 54-14 during her tenure as a player.
O'Shae was named an IWLCA Second-Team All-America, a regional All-America, a First-Team All-CAA selection and the CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 1999. A two-year starter in the midfield for the Greyhounds, she led the team in goals scored and was voted the squad's most valuable player as a senior.
O'Shae earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from Loyola in May of 1999.
