Six Tar Heels Named to All-ACC Academic Squad

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Six University of North Carolina women's lacrosse student-athletes highlight the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Lacrosse team as announced Monday by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Tar Heels Katie Brooks, Jamie Hanssen, Christina Juras, Erica LaGrow, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Taylor earned a spot on the squad. All six league schools competing in women's lacrosse are represented on the honor squad, including six student-athletes who received all-conference accolades. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Duke led all schools with nine honorees on this year's team. Virginia Tech and North Carolina placed six student-athletes on the academic squad apiece, followed by Maryland with four selections. Rounding out full ACC representation is Boston College and Virginia, which each tallied three honorees on the honor squad. In addition to Dobbie, players recognized that earned All-Conference honors this past spring were Duke's Carolyn Davis, Leigh Jester, and Kristen Waagbo, Carolina's Juras and Virginia's Jess Wasilewski.
