Falcone, Freshwater Earn All-America Accolades

CHAPEL HILL - A pair of University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players, junior defender Amber Falcone and senior defender Meg Freshwater, have earned All-America honors from WomensLacrosse.com, the website announced on Wednesday.

Falcone earned first-team accolades and Freshwater was named to the third team. Earlier this week, Falcone earned first-team All-America honors from another website, WomensLax.com.

Other Atlantic Coast Conference players named to the WomensLacrosse.com first-team All-America squad include Claire Bordley (Virginia), Dana Dobbie (Maryland), Kelly Kasper (Maryland) and Aiyana Newton (Duke).

Dobbie was named the Midfielder of the Year while Duke's Emma Hamm was the Rookie of the Year. WomensLacrosse.com named Laura Shane of Stanford its Goalie of the Year, Christy Finch of Northwestern its Defender of the Year, Hannah Nielsen of Northwestern its Attacker of the Year and Sandy Bridgeman of New Hampshire its Coach of the Year. Ashley Milley of New Hampshire was named Unsung Hero of the Year.
