Falcone Named First-Team All-America

CHAPEL HILL - University of North Carolina women's lacrosse player Amber Falcone (Westminster, Md.) has earned first-team All-America honors from WomensLax.com, the website announced on Tuesday. Falcone, a junior defender, is one of five Atlantic Coast Conference players on the team. ACC players joining Falcone on the 2008 WomensLax.com All-America Team are Carolyn Davis (Duke), Dana Dobbie (Maryland), Kelly Kasper (Maryland) and Ashley McCulloch (Virginia). Other members of the squad include Hillary Bowen (Northwestern), Jillian Byers (Notre Dame), Sarah Dalton (Boston University), Ali DeLuca (Penn), Christina Dove (Syracuse), Christy Finch (Northwestern), Holly McGarvie (Princeton), Hannah Nielsen (Northwestern), Hilary Renna (Penn), Katie Rowan (Syracuse) and Sarah Waxman (Penn). Northwestern's Nielsen earned National Player of the Year honors. Other awards included Rowan (Attacker of the Year), Dobbie (Midfielder of the Year), Finch (Defender of the Year), Waxman (Goalie of the Year) and Duke's Emma Hamm (Rookie of the Year). Duke's Kerstin Kimel was named Coach of the Year.
