State College, Pa.- Under steel gray skies at Penn State's Bigler Field, the No. 7 North Carolina women's lacrosse team overpowered Ohio State, 18-6, on Friday afternoon.

The Tar Heels (6-3), led by Erin McInnes' six point day, also got three goals and three assists from Amy Havrilla and three goals from Christine McPike.

Carolina, which defeated Virginia Tech, 20-1, in Chapel Hill last Tuesday afternoon, now has outscored its opponents, 38-7, in its last two contests.

Havrilla put the Heels on the board early, on an assist from Lindsay Stone. McPike found the back of the net, Kellie Thompson scored on a free position shot and Stone scored unassisted, giving UNC the early 4-0 lead and forcing an Ohio State (5-2) time out. The Buckeyes responded immediately, as Megan Myrick scored off a pass from Lauren Cochran. Carolina then rattled of five more goals before OSU scored just before halftime, making the score 9-2 at the break.

To open the second half, Erin Anderson scored for the Buckeyes at 29:29. Another score from Myrick, a second goal from Anderson and a free position goal from Buckeye reserve Amy Tulk could not bridge the gap though, as the Tar Heels posted nine goals in the second half and won the game 18-6.

On Sunday, North Carolina next faces Penn State Sunday at noon Eastern Time in State College on the Penn State campus.
