Twelve Tar Heels Named to EAGL All-Academic Team

March 26, 2007

Twelve members of the University of North Carolina gymnastics team were named to the 2007 East Atlantic Gymnastics League All-Academic Team. Seniors Christine Robella, Miranda Ross, Claire Smith, and Courtney Turco were four of only 17 total recipients who were honored for the fourth straight year.

A total of 96 student-athletes from the eight EAGL schools were named to the 2007 EAGL All-Academic Team. Ninety-six honorees is the highest total in the 12-year history of the EAGL; there were 95 EAGL All-Academic team members in 2005.

In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the two previous semesters. Freshmen are also eligible, if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
