WASHINGTON, D.C. - North Carolina's gymnastics team finished second in a tri-meet Saturday night, defeating Yale but losing to host George Washington.

The Colonials led the competition with 195.575 points while Coach Derek Galvin's Tar Heels had 192.925 and the Bulldogs had 190.800.

George Washington junior Devin McCalla won three individual events and the all-around to lead the Colonials to victory. McCalla tied the GWU school record in the floor exercise with a 9.950 and she took first in the bars (9.90), the beam (9.90) and captured the all-around with a 39.425.

GWU sophomore Kacey Coyne won the vault with a 9.85 to complete the sweep of all the events by the Colonials.

Carolina's Lisa Companioni finished third in the all-around with a score of 38.800 points. Campanioni tied for second on the vault Saturday night with a score of 9.750. UNC's Brooke Wilson took a pair of third place finishes. She was third on bars with a score of 9.775 and third on floor with a score of 9.850. Tar Heel Natalie Halbach was third on the balance beam with a 9.850 mark.

North Carolina next travels to Gainesville, Fla., this Saturday, March 17, to face Utah, a rematch with George Washington and the host Gators of Florida at 7:00 p.m.
