Muncie, Ind.-- The University of North Carolina gymnastics team finished in fourth place behind 19th ranked Bowling Green, Illinois-Chicago and host Ball State with a score of 190.550.

Carolina excelled on floor sweeping the top three places. Sophomore transfer Anna Wilson took first with a 9.875. Sophomore Maddy Curley and senior Monica Middleton finished second and third respectively with a 9.825 and a 9.800. Senior Lisa Companioni finished fifth with a score of 9.750.

On vault freshman Amy Williams, freshman Olivia Trusty and Wilson were the top three finisher for Carolina . William placed fourth with a 9.775, while Trusty (9.750) and Wilson (9.725) took fifth and sixth place respectively.

Companioni and Wilson tied for fourth on beam with a score of 9.600 and Curley tied for sixth with a 9.575.

Wilson and Middleton were the only two Carolina gymnasts to participate in the all around. Wilson claimed fourth with a 38.275 and Middleton finished fifth with a 36.600. Carolina is now 7-4. The series record between Carolina and Ball State is now 0-2. The series record against Bowling Green is 1-2 and against Chicago-Illinois is 1-1.

Carolina travels to College Park, Md. to take on Maryland, Towson and NC State in the Governor's Cup on Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m. in Richie Coliseum.
