CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

University of North Carolina women's golfer Catherine O'Donnell sat down with TarHeelBlue.com on Wednesday to talk about her first few weeks on the Carolina campus and her superb performance in the Tar Heel Invitational played last weekend in Chapel Hill.

O'Donnell, a freshman from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors at the Tar Heel Invitational after carding an even par 216 total at UNC Finley Golf Course. O'Donnell fired a two-under-par 70 in the final round after posting a 74 in the first round followed by an even par 72 on the second day. This was just her second appearance in a Tar Heel uniform as she tied for 28th place at the Cougar Classic Sept. 9-11.

O'Donnell led the Tar Heels to a second-place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational, their best finish since the spring of 2007 when they were the runners up at the Chrysler Challenge. The Tar Heels finished third at the Cougar Classic, their first event of the fall campaign. This weekend, they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to play in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. The 54-hole event will be played Friday through Sunday at Fox Den Country Club which features a par 72, 6,058-yard layout. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com through the event.
