Virginia Wins Virginias-Carolinas Team Matches

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 24-golfer Virginias team led wire to wire and defeated their Carolinas counterparts 55 1/2 to 43 1/2 at the 52nd Virginias-Carolinas Women's Team Matches played at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Sydney Crane and Lauren Hunt, both rising seniors at the University of North Carolina played for the Carolinas team.

In the final day four-ball matches where three points are awarded per match - one for winning the outward half, one for the inward half and one for the overall match. Crane, from Jamestown, N.C., and her partner, Kristin Vincent, defeated Jessica Hollandsworth and Natalie Easterly 3-0. Meanwhile, the Virginia team of Kristen Simpson and Cindy Morris defeated Hunt, from Little River, S.C., and Laura Crawford 2 1/2-1/2.
