Tar Heels Tie For Third At Women's Landfall Tradition

Wilmington, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team struggled on the final day of play at the Women's Landfall Tradition to finish in a tie for third place with Michigan. Carolina began the day in second place, but carded a 20-over 308 for the day. Wake Forest took the team championship for the second year in a row with a three-day 16-over 880.

Allie White shot a seven-over par 79 in the final round. White, a freshman from Lancaster, Ohio, tied for 12th place at 12-over 228. White is the Tar Heels' top finisher. Junior Kate Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, finished with a 14-over 230 total and tied for 15th place. Lauren Hunt, a senior from Little River, S.C., tied for 19th place at 15-over 231. Freshman Catherine O'Donnell, a native of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., carded an 18-over 234. She shot a 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for28th place. Senior Sydney Crane, from Jamestown, N.C., finished the tournament tied for 28th place with O'Donnell after firing an 80 on Sunday. She shot an 18-over par 234 for the weekend. Ohio State finished 28 strokes behind Wake Forest for second place. Florida finished in fifth and ECU finished in sixth.

Wake Forest's Dolores White captured the individual crown. Dolores White began the day tied for third, but fired a 70 to finish on top of the individual leader board. Abby Boots of ECU finished in second with a 220 total. Wake Forest's Jean Chua finished in third with a score of 221.

The 54-hole tournament at the Jack Nicklaus course featured a par-72, 6,117 layout.
