Tar Heel Women Improve to Second Place at the Women's Landfall Tradition

Wilmington, N.C. - The University of North Carolina Women's golf team is in second place after the second round of The Women's Landfall Tradition. Led by freshman Allie White, the Tar Heels are 32-over par.  Wake Forest held onto the top spot with a score of 585.

After shooting a 75 in the first round, Allie White, from Lancaster, Ohio fired a 74 in the second round. She is tied for fifth place with 149. Junior Kate Thomas, of Murwillumbah, Australia was tied with White after the first round. She carded a 76 in the second round. Her two day combined score of 151 puts her in a tie for 10th place. Senior Sydney Crane, of Jamestown, N.C., fired a 78 in Saturday's round. She stands at 10-over par 154 and is tied for 17th place. Lauren Hunt, a native of Little River, S.C., shot a four-over par 76 in the second round. Hunt is in a tie for 21st place. Catherine O'Donnell of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., shot 77 on Saturday for a 160 total and is tied for 34th place.

One stroke behind the Tar Heels, Ohio State is in third place. The Buckeyes finished the second round at 33-over par. Michigan is the fourth place team with a score of 615.

Cheyenne Woods of Wake Forest leads the individuals. She fired a 71 in the second round for a total of 146. In second place is Wake Forest's Natalie Sheary with a two-round total of 147. Amber Littman of East Tennessee State is tied for third with the Demon Deacon's Dolores White. Five players are tied for fifth place including the Tar Heel's Allie White.

Play at the Country Club of Landfall will continue through Sunday. The Jack Nicklaus course is a par-72, 6,063-yard course.
