UNC Women Golfers Finish Fifth In Mason Rudolph Championships

Franklin, Tenn. -- The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished the third round of the Mason Rudolph Championships with a team total of 18-over par 306 giving them sole possession of fifth place for the tournament. The Ohio State University women golfers won the event by posting a three round total of three-under par 861. Vanderbilt University was runner-up at 16 shots off the lead. Furman Paladin Jennifer Perri claimed top individual honors with a six-under par 243. The Tar Heels were led by Beth Lever who finished in 11th place after shooting a three round total of 5-over par 221. Teammate Ashley Prange jumped from 26th into 14th place after shooting an eight-over par 224 while Abby Spector dropped into a two-way tie for 25th finishing at 10-over par 226. UNC's Shelley McKevitt and Meghan Adams closed the tournament out with totals of 237 and 238 respectively. The UNC Women's golf team will next compete in the ACC/SEC in Destin, Florida beginning September 28, 2001.
