Women's Golf In Third After Round Two Of ACC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -
The University of North Carolina's women's golf team is in third place with a team total of 625 after the second round of play at the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship. Duke leads the field of six at 592, while the Deamon Deacons of Wake forest are in second place at 613. After the Tar Heels, Florida State is fourth at 628, while Maryland is in fifth place at 637. North Carolina State rounds out the field in sixth at 680. In individual play, Duke freshman Virada Nirpathpongporn shot a second round 71 to retain her hold on the lead at four-under par 140. Florida State's Kristen Tumulis is eight shots back at 148, while Duke's Candy Hannemann is in third at 149. Fellow Blue Devil Leigh Anne Hardin is tied with Wake Forest's Kathryn Brenny for fourth place at 151. For the Tar Heels, junior Beth Lever leads the way in ninth place with a two-round total of 154. Freshman Ashley Prange is in tenth place at 155, while Shelley McKevitt and Heather Angell are tied for 14th place at 159. Sophomore Abby Spector is tied for 16th place with a total of 160. The event is being played at Disney's Palm Course, which features a par 72, 6183 yard layout. The final round will be played Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m.
