Women's Golf In Second Place At ACC Tournament

Orlando, Fla. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team is in a second place tie with Wake Forest after the first round of the ACC Women's Golf Championship. Both teams scored an opening round total of 312 while the number one ranked Duke Blue Devils leads the pack with a 293 total. Duke Freshman Virada Nirapathpongporn is the individual leader scoring a career-low tying three-under par 69 while teammate Candy Hannemann follows in second place with a one-over par 73. Florida State's Kristin Tamulis secured third place with a two-over par 74 and Blue Devil Leigh Anne Harden shot a 74 giving her sole possession of fourth. There are four golfers tied for fifth including North Carolina Junior Beth Lever who shot a four-over par 76. UNC Junior Shelley McKevitt is in a four-way tied for ninth scoring a 77 while Freshman Ashely Prange is tied for thirteenth and Sophomore Abby Spector and Junior Heather Angel are in a three-way tie for sixteenth with a nine-over par 81 opening round.
