Carolina Women's Golf Finishes Ninth

Browns Summit, NC-- North Carolina's women's golf team finished the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate in ninth place with a team total 914. The Tar Heels were led by freshman Ashley Prange, who fired her third consecutive three-over-par 75 finishing the tournament in a three-way tie for 25th at nine-over-par 225. Duke University took top honors with a team total 856. The Blue Devils were led by individual tournament leaders Candy Hannemannn and Virada Nirapathpongporn. Hannemann finished the day scoring a three-under-par 68 for a 209 total while Nirapathpongporn shot a one-under par 71 for a 212 total. Rounding out the top five in individual scoring was Tennessee's Young-A Yang who finished the tournament at 214, followed by Wake Forest teammates Marta Prieto and Nuria Clau who finished at 215 and 216 consecutively. Wake Forest as a team held on to second place closing out at 879 while Oklahoma State followed in third at 885. Purdue and Tennessee rounded out the top five with scores of 888 and 889 respectively. Tar Heel Junior Shelly McKevitt fired a 74 on Sunday and finished tied with five others at eleven-over-par 227. UNC Sophomore Abby Spector finished the day at even par and tied for 43rd. Junior Beth Lever finished tied for 49th while Junior Heather Angell scored a tournament total 241 and tied for 74th. The Tar Heels will next compete in the ACC Tournament which will be held at Disney's Par 72, 6,461 Palm Course on the weekend of April 20.
