UNC Women's Golf In Ninth Place After Second Round Of Bryan National Collegiate

Browns Summit, NC-- North Carolina's women's golf team remains in ninth place tied with the University of South Carolina with a 616 total after the second round of the Bryan National Collegiate. The Tar Heels continue to be led by freshman Ashley Prange, from Noblesville, Ind., who fired another three-over-par 75 and is tied for 17th place at six-over-par 150. Duke University leads the field of 17 teams with a 577 total. Wake Forest is holding on to second place at 587 and Oklahoma St. follows in third at 591. Tennessee and Furman round out the top five with scores of 601 and 603 respectively. Tar Heel junior Shelly McKevitt fired a 75 and is tied for 34th place while teammate Beth Lever finished two strokes back with a 75 and a sits in a tie for 41st. Tar Heel teammates Abby Spector and Heather Angell each scored a 79 and finished tied for 51st and 57th respectively. The individual lead is held by both Duke University's Candy Hannemann and teammate V.Nirapathpongporn each firing a three-under 69 for a 141 total. Wake Forest's Marta Prieto is in sole possession of third at 144 while there are four players tied for forth. These players include Tennessee's Young-A Yang, Furman's Jennifer Perri, and Oklahoma States's Linda Wessberg and Maria Boden The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at the Bryan Park Champions Golf Course, which features a par 72, 6,074-yard layout.
