The University of North Carolina women's golf tournament finished in a tie for fourth place at the rain-shortened 37th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic after firing a 16-over par 304 in the first and final round of play. The Tar Heels finished six strokes behind Auburn who won the tournament. Two days of rain forced the tournament to cancel two rounds of play on Friday and Saturday.

Freshman Catherine O'Donnell and junior Kate Thomas finished in a tie for fourth and led the Tar Heels. O'Donnell and Thomas finished tied for fifth place after firing two-over-par 74s.

Lauren Hunt, a senior from Little Rive, S.C., carded a five-over 77. Hunt finished in a tie for 30th place. Senior Sydney Crane and Allie White, a freshman from Lancaster, Ohio, fired rounds of 79. Crane and White were seven-over par for a 50th place finish.

Auburn finished in first place on the team leader board. Kent State and the University of Alabama tied for second. Ohio State shared a piece of fourth place with the Tar Heels.

The University of Alabama's Kathleen Ekey captured the individual tournament title with a three-under-par 69. Kirby Dreher of Kent State finished one-stroke behind Ekey for second place. Ohio State's In-Hong Lim and Auburn's Candace Schepperle finished tied for third. Eight golfers tied for fifth including Carolina's O'Donnell and Thomas.

The 18-hole tournament was played at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. The course features a par 72, 6,335-yard layout.
