UNC Women Golfers Place Twelfth At Lady Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished this weekend's SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in twelfth place with a final team score of 926. Auburn University won the event with a team score of 868, finishing ten shots ahead of second place Georgia. Tennessee finished the weekend in third place with a total of 885, while Vanderbilt was in fourth with a three-round total pf 897. Louisiana State rounded out the top five with a final team score of 898. Summer Sirmons of Georgia won the individual title after defeating Tennessee's Young * A Yang and Auburn's Celeste Troche in a playoff. All three golfers finished the three round tournament with a total of three-under-par 213. Auburn's Anne Hutto and Georgia's Reilley Rankin rounded out the top five as they tied for fourth place at two-over-par 218. The Tar Heels were led by junior Heather Angell, who finished tied for 23rd place with a three-round total of nine-over-par 225. Fellow junior Shelley McKevitt finished tied for 34th place after a final total of 13-over-par 229. Ashley Prange finished the weekend tied for 48th place after a 17-over-par 233, while Beth Lever finished tied for 71st place at 23-over-par 239. Junior Britta Olson rounded out the Tar Heels in 82nd place with a 30-over-par 246. The 54-hole event was played at the University of Florida Golf Course, which features a par 72, 5, 840 yard layout.
