UNC Women Golfers In Tenth Place At The Lady Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The North Carolina women's golf team is in a three-way tie for tenth place after compiling a two-day total of 613 at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Auburn continues to lead the 17-team event after a second round score of 290 and a two-day total of 582. Georgia is three shots back in second place at 585, while Louisiana State anchors third at 593. Tennessee follows at 594 and Florida State holds on to sixth with a 600 total. Summer Sirmons of Georgia is the individual leader following a second round 69 for a two-day total of two-under-par 142. Simons is followed by Georgia teammate Laura Henderson at 143, while Diana Ramage of Auburn and Reilley Rankin of Georgia are tied for third at 144. Rounding out the top five are three golfers tied at 145 ¯ Young-A Yang of Tennessee, Courtney Swain of Auburn and Celeste Troche of Auburn. The Tar Heels are led by Heather Angell who is in a four-way tie for 16th at four over after a second round total of 148. Teammate Shelly Mckevitt is in a seven-way tie for 24th at 150, followed by Ashely Prange at 157, Beth Lever at 158, while Tar Heel Britta Olsen closes the day with a two-day total of 163. The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at the University of Florida Golf Course, which features a par 72, 5,840-yard layout.
