CSTV To Broadcast NCAA Selection Show

After claiming the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Sunday with a 3-1 win over Maryland, the North Carolina field hockey team now awaits Tuesday's announcement of the 2004 NCAA tournament field, which for the first time ever will be broadcast live on television. CSTV (College Sports Television) will air the first NCAA Field Hockey Championship Selection Show beginning at 7 p.m. The show will feature the live announcement of the 16-team NCAA field and will also include analysis of the bracket and previews of the first-round games.

First and second-round games will take place at campus sites this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 14. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for Nov. 19 and 21 at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. CSTV will televise the title game live on Nov. 21 beginning at 12:30 p.m.

    North Carolina is expected to receive a bid to participate in its 21st NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels won national championships in 1989, 1995, 1996 and 1997 and have reached the title game on six other occasions.
