GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Two North Carolina field hockey players, junior Rachel Dawson and senior Katy Tran have been named to the 2005 All-Atlantic Coast Conference squad, announced Wednesday evening. Both Tar Heels earned the honor for the second year in a row.

Dawson, a midfielder from Berlin, N.J., leads UNC in goals with 11 and is second on the team in assists with seven. She currently is competing as part of the U.S. National Team at the Three Nation Tournament in Argentina and will miss the ACC Tournament, but will rejoin the team for NCAA Tournament play. She also missed three UNC games in September while representing the U.S. at the Junior World Cup in Chile.

Tran, a senior from Grantville, Pa., is UNC's starting goalkeeper for the third year. She has six complete-game shutouts this season and a goals-against average of 1.07.

Maryland's Paula Infante was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Duke's Katie Grant was selected as ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Wake Forest's Jennifer Averill was the pick for Coach of the Year after leading her team through an undefeated regular season.
