The USA Field Hockey team will open pool play in Olympic competition on Sunday, taking on Argentina, the winner of the 2007 Pan American Games. Also in the U.S. team's pool are Germany, Great Britain, Japan and New Zealand.

The U.S.-Argentina game will air live on MSNBC as part of a block of programming from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Beijing, which is a 12-hour time difference from the Eastern Time Zone.

In addition, all Olympic field hockey games will be webcast on NBCOlympics.com.

Competing for the Americans are six Tar Heel players - Kate Barber, Rachel Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski, Jesse Gey, Carrie Lingo and Amy Tran. Falgowski, a rising sophomore at North Carolina, is the only college player on the team.

The U.S. team will play Japan on Tuesday in another game that will be broadcast live as part of a USA network block of programming between 2 p.m. and noon EST. The team continues pool play on Aug. 14 (vs. Germany), Aug. 16 (vs. New Zealand) and Aug. 18 (vs. Great Britain).

Medal play begins on Aug. 22 with the bronze medal game. The gold medal game will be broadcast on Oxygen at 6 p.m. that day.

Former UNC assistant coach Nick Conway, now the U.S. men's National Team coach, will provide commentary on all of the U.S. games.
