CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina associate head field hockey coach Nick Conway has resigned his position to pursue opportunities in his home country of England, UNC head coach Karen Shelton announced today. Conway had been part of the UNC program for eight years and was promoted from assistant coach to his current position in 2001.

"I am grateful to Nick for his eight years of outstanding service to the Carolina field hockey program," said Shelton, who is in her 22nd year as the Tar Heel coach. "We wish him nothing but the best as he returns to his homeland."

Conway plans to continue his coaching career in London. In addition to his work at UNC, he has served as a U.S. Field Hockey assistant coach and has coached a Chapel Hill-based team, Southern Charm, to back-to-back titles in the USFHA summer league. At Carolina, he was part of three NCAA Championship teams , in 1995, '96 and '97.

"I would like to thank the University, and particularly Coach Shelton, for the amazing opportunities that have been offered to me during my eight-year association with the program," Conway said. "I am looking forward to new challenges in England and will always look back at my time at Carolina with fond memories. I will miss being a part of the Carolina field hockey program."
